Home Exterior Decorating Ideas for a Fabulous Fall!

Home Exterior Decorating Ideas for a Fabulous Fall!

While we’re still spending a lot of time safe at home, you can perk up your home exterior with these fall-themed decorating ideas.

You don’t need to be a professional to spruce up your porch or front yard for fall! Autumn is quite the festive season that many homeowners and their families look forward to every year. While we’re still spending a lot of time safe at home, you can perk up your home exterior with these fall-themed decorating ideas. Here are some ideas to add some seasonal flair to your home exterior as we continue into autumn.

Pumpkins and Gourds

Pumpkins aren’t just for carving jack-o-lanterns at Halloween time. Beautiful pumpkins of all shapes and sizes, along with other gourds of the season, make for excellent exterior decor throughout the fall season. Plus, they’re pretty easy to find and super affordable as far as outdoor accessories go. Think about adding some real pumpkins with faux pumpkins you can find at a nearby craft or home goods store for even more variety.

Cozy Outdoor Seating

If you have space on your front porch or even a backyard deck or patio, another fun way to decorate your home exterior is creating fall-themed seating. You can switch out your existing outdoor seating cushions with ones that feature warm colors or festive patterns. Or, you can consider purchasing a small bench and add outdoor accent pillows. Finish off the seating nook with a small table and by tucking other cute items like woven baskets and mini pumpkins around it. It’s the perfect place to sit with a cup of hot tea, a blanket, and a loved one as you admire the foliage around you turning fiery red and orange.

Fall Flowers

You may be wondering what fall flowers to plant or to place in your planters. Many options can give your home exterior that classic autumnal aesthetic. Mums in brilliant shades of yellow, orange, and red are great for starters. Pansy and viola also look as great as their aroma. For a bit of state pride, consider adding Black-Eyed Susans around your home too. Also, decorative veggies such as flowering kale and fun ornamental chili peppers make for interesting additions. Planters can be placed along your entryway, on the porch, or around an attached garage. This way, the colorful plants are shown around different parts of your home exterior, and not clustered into one area.

Garlands and Grapevines

Fall-themed garlands and grapevines spice up the outside of your house in a fun and unexpected way. You can string these over your front door or wrap them along deck and porch rails and columns. If you like the farmhouse vibe that dried vegetation adds to your home during fall, then put some dried corn stalks and straw bales out on display too!
