Family-Friendly Fall Activities (Part 2)

Columbia Builders Fall Family Activities

There are plenty of enjoyable family-friendly fall activities to take part in before the weather gets too cold.

Last week, we began covering some of the many family-friendly fall activities by starting with the quintessential trip to a local pumpkin patch. This week, we’re going to branch out to other fun fall activities that will provide plenty of entertainment for family members of all ages.

Go Picking at a Local Apple Orchard

Apples are delicious, and nothing beats fresh apples that you just picked off of an apple tree at a local orchard. These usually have a relatively small fee per person, each of which are given a bag that they’re welcome to fill with apples. As an added bonus, these orchards will likely offer fresh apple cider, a fall treat that many enjoy. This is a great way to get outside with the family and enjoy a calm activity that also leads to everyone getting to enjoy some fresh fruit.

Check Out a Haunted House

Families with young children might be resistant to the idea of a haunted house, but there are family-friendly haunted houses available that everyone can enjoy without it being overly scary. This can be a great way to get everyone’s adrenaline going a little bit and enjoy the spirit of the season. Check for kid-friendly haunted houses and attractions in your local area if you want to give this a try.

Plant Winter Vegetables

If your family enjoys gardening together, fall is the perfect time to plant some tasty winter vegetables. Options such as spinach, broccoli, carrots, beets, turnips, and several lettuces are all available for planting in the fall season to grow over the winter months. Children can help with fall garden preparation as well, turning the process into a lovely weekend outdoors in the garden.

Do Fall-Themed Family Crafts

There are tons of great family crafts to choose from during the fall that will bring joy to the whole family. Staff a scarecrow or let everyone make their own out of paper bags, make various forms of leaf art, make your own slime or playdough, or even get the whole family in on creating the perfect fall wreath for your front door. The options are almost endless!

Enjoy a S’mores Night

If you have a fire pit, this is a given. Grab some blankets, sticks, and s’mores ingredients, and have a s’mores night outside with the whole family. There’s just something delightful about roasting marshmallows and telling stories while enjoying a traditional fall treat.
