Columbia, Md. (July 23, 2005) – At the Home Builders Association of Maryland 2005 Maryland Award of Excellence (MAX) ceremony, Columbia Builders, Inc. was honored with a first place award for design of single family homes in the over $1 million category. They won for their Sturbridge model in the Worthington Trace community at the crest of Worthington Valley in northwest Baltimore County.
The awards presented in 2005 are for homes built in 2004. A team of home design building experts from the Baltimore area judged this year’s program, which is an annual event.
The judging criteria included floor plan layout, quality and convenience features, overall design and value. Award winners must be members of the Home Builders Association of Maryland, which includes all the major area builders. Nearly 1,000 people attended the MAX Award event, which was held at the Baltimore Marriot Waterfront hotel.
“We are honored to be recognized for our work at Worthington Trace,” said Ted Wies, executive vice president of Columbia Builders. “We have won before, but the new Columbia Builders Estate Homes series is an innovation for the company that had not yet been presented in the MAX Awards. There is great satisfaction in having it judged by a jury of our fellow builders as best in a category our first time presenting it to the public.”
