Columbia, MD (August 20, 2009) – Ted Wies, vice president of Columbia Builders Inc., has been named to the Board of Directors of the Maryland Residential Green Building Council. (MRGBC)
Launched by the Home Builders Association of Maryland, the Maryland Residential Green Building Council exists to certify that members meet core education requirements and commit to green building standards as well as advocating for green building incentives and local adoption of National Green Building Standards.
Wies, who has worked for Columbia Builders for 28 years and is a certified green-building professional, will become part of the board which, in turn, will work with the state council's members on all issues relating to energy efficiency and environmental design and construction.
Wies began his career working summers as a laborer for Columbia Builders while he earned a degree in construction engineering technology from Fairleigh-Dickinson University in New Jersey. After graduating in 1985, he joined the company full-time and progressed through the ranks, ultimately heading up the townhome division of Columbia Builders prior to being named to his current position. Columbia Builders was founded by President Jim Greenfield in 1975. Wies resides in Baltimore County with his family.
MGBC is the state's first residential green building program to certify local builders, remodelers and developers using the ANSI certified National Green Building Standard. The MGBC educates decision makers on the latest green building principles, trends and technologies, advocates before local elected officials for increased incentives for green buildings, and promotes green communities, homes, companies and products.
